MDINA AND RABAT

We also dedicate a day to visit Mdina and Rabat.

Once again we used the bus. If you're staying in the Sliema area, the bus to Mdina is the number 202.

If you want a different experience, as was our case, you can take the Vintage Bus city tour.

We guarantee a different experience on an old bus. Prices are very affordable, only €2.50 for a one way ticket and €4.50 for a day ticket.

Mdina, for us is one of the most beautiful cities in Malta.

β€œLighted at night by lanterns and referred to as the silent city, Mdina is a fascinating city to visit because of its timeless atmosphere and cultural and religious treasures”, are the words of Malta tourism and we check it all out.

The city is all enclosed within ancient walls, and once again, the best way to discover all the corners of this beautiful city is to walk lost through its streets. Mdina's biggest landmark is St. Paul's Cathedral, which is located on the main square. The city has a medieval architecture that mixes with Baroque architecture, and the color of the limestone makes the two equal through the narrow streets.

Here are some points of reference that you should not miss on your visit to Mdina:

- Mdina Gate

- Il-Foss

- National Museum of Natural History

- Torre dello Standardo

- St. Paul's Cathedral

- Archbishop's Palace

- Palazzo Falson

- Greeks Gate

Even glued to Mdina is Rabat. Just go out through the Mdina Gate and then you have Howardd Gardens (where the buses stop). Walk a little further and you'll arrive in Rabat.

In Rabat there are many historical attractions such as the Domus Romana, an archaeological site with many artifacts from the ancient empire, and the St Paul’s Catacombs, where the apostle would have sheltered during the Roman persecution of Catholics. Another interesting tour for those who enjoy traveling through history! You also have Casa Bernard and Saint Agatha catacombs.

To visit Mdina and Rabat, you can do it in a morning or afternoon. You can go in the morning on the vintage bus at 9:20am, visit the cities and or not have lunch there and in the rest of your free time, come back and still enjoy the beaches, for example in Sliema! ;)

If you want to make a stop on the way back to Sliema, you can stop and visit Ta Quali Craft Village, which is on the way.
